I am not a fan of watching television, neither am I fond of watching series nor movies, somehow it pales in excitement to me when compared to activities I enjoy such as reading. In spite of my reservations towards watching television, there is a series that has so caught my attention that I watched them all and that is the Flash. I am most intrigued that a young man having gone through so much pain, witnessing the murder of his mother and his father being falsely accused of the same murder, he was still able to be so hopeful. When compared to other superheroes, he doesn’t quite have their skill set or expertise in my opinion, but he always comes with an optimistic view, coming from a place of hope. And he takes it further by sharing that hope with others.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
1st Corinthians 13:13
Hope is a state of being we often overlook, and under value. I have thought repeatedly about the relevance of hope. The bible says hope will remain forever but how or why? I thought about the very presence of hope and have come to realize that hope is the light that springs from the dark, it is not a light originating from self but one that comes from our Creator, the I am. It therefore leads me to think that in order to experience hope or have hope we must experience darkness or pain.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,”
Hebrews 6:19
Let’s think it through, can we experience joy without having hope? Can we experience any pleasant emotion or feeling without simultaneously experiencing hope? From my perspective, I think not. It therefore tells me that hope remains forever so that, I may not only endure, but also overcome the dark places or painful places I will encounter during the course of my life. What are those dark or painful places that needs some hope? Maybe it is childhood trauma, or the loss of a loved one, or maybe it is deteriorating health. Whatever it is, kindly remember, no darkness exist that is too dark for light. There is no pain too great, that hope can’t reach.
It is my payer that we will invite hope within our souls so that we may experience its life changing power and go from enduring dark places to overcoming them.
See you again soon and remain hopeful. If you’re unsure how to, it can be as simple as an invitation, Hope come to (insert name). Blessings to you always.
